You just have to answer one simple question.
"If everyone did what I have done this past week — is that a world I want to live in and bring my kids up in?"
Two weeks ago our world was a calm, democratic, modern world where on the whole many people in it were physically safe.
There were localised, centuries-old wars ongoing. There were dictators and suppression and violence — yes.
But those of us not unlucky enough to be born in those locations didn't even have to know what was going on if we chose not to.
Then Trump had a very public tantrum and we are now all teetering in a very precarious geopolitical situation, suffering global consequences — even though his House Speaker still denied that the US is at war.
🙄 Um, ok. We will get to definitions later…
But first, let's come back to my question.
It was true when he said it way back then. It is true now. And it is playing out on our social truth news feeds in real time.
But even then — sometimes it IS a time to do nothing.
In 1993, approximately 4,000 people gathered in Washington D.C. for a two-month meditation experiment. Under the scrutiny of a 27-member independent review board — including sociologists, criminologists, and representatives from the D.C. police department — they simply meditated. Violent crime dropped by 23.3%. The statistical probability of that being a coincidence was less than 2 in a billion (Hagelin et al., 1999, Social Indicators Research, 47, 153-201).
More recently, Dr Joe Dispenza and HeartMath Institute published peer-reviewed research in January 2026 showing that small groups of coherent meditators produced measurable effects on random number generators distributed around the world — suggesting that collective emotional coherence creates nonlocal effects that extend beyond the body (Dispenza & HeartMath Institute, 2026, published in EXPLORE, Elsevier).
Global peace meditation works. It has been studied. It has been measured. It is real.
But what if you can't meditate? What if doing nothing brings you anxiety?
Then maybe doing nothing isn't all you can do. And maybe you can't tell them to stop it, either.
This war is happening whether we like it or not. But maybe this is our window to find a middle ground.
"If everyone did what I have done this past week — is that a world I want to live in and bring my kids up in?"
I'm guessing if you're reading this you didn't just start a global war. (If you did — call me. We need to talk.)
But the decisions we make on a personal level shaped the world that was able to get to this point.
Be compassionately kind to yourself — but honest.
Did you do nice things? Kind things? Did you have fun with family and friends? Did you learn something new? Did you question the news? Did you lie about something important? Did you panic and doomscroll? Did you get angry and lash out? Did you mock someone who believed something different to yourself?
The war landed missiles physically last week but it started a long time ago. When governments and corporations started valuing profits over people. When the need for progress to feed their ego went unchecked.
I've said for a long time — governments rule the world, businesses rule governments. This week we have seen undeniable evidence of both.
And some businesses and governments really need to ask themselves this question as well. Because for some, the answer is no.
For me, I chose the middle path. I meditated. And I took action in the best way I know how — communication.
Do I have experience in geopolitics? Only at a local level — which is why I am not getting involved on Social Book. Someone else can do front-line politics. I'll stick with human behaviour, thanks.
But what I do have is a background in crisis management planning, human behaviour psychology, international business leadership and public relations… and I can see history repeating and a spin campaign a mile off.
So I created a website — an attempt first to share what affects us here in Western Australia that may or may not be reported on in mainstream media, and to verify the actual sourced facts from AI-generated memes on social media.
It started as a project to calm my own nerves — and to share with my clients, my friends and my family, whether they are 14 or 74, so they can find the facts whenever they are ready to know.
But it became something bigger than that.
It became a place of calm facts in a world fuelled by disinformation. And it brought relief and clarity to my loved ones. I am proud of the ripple effects of that.
I'm hoping people much smarter and more experienced than me are asking these same questions — and if you want to forward these tools on to them, please do. If you find any incorrect sources, let me know and I will update them.
So what did I do this week?
| · | Contributed my skills |
| · | Cuddled my dogs |
| · | Prepared an appropriate amount for the impacts of what's happening |
| · | Fed the horses some watermelon |
| · | Watched my nephew play softball |
| · | Went to yoga |
| · | Picked figs and veges |
| · | Connected with my loved ones |
| · | And naps. With a few Easter eggs thrown in. 🐣 |
Could I have done "better" or "more"? Possibly.
But if everyone did what I have done — would the world be one I want to live in?
Yes.
